Please Help - Typhoid Fever since 2 months, not abating till now

Hello experts,

My sister was diagnosed with S.Typhi 2 months ago and then promptly put on antibiotics (Ceftriaxone, 2 gm for 8 days). It was followed by Bactrim Ds (500 mg *2 for 8 days) and Ceftum (500 mg*2 for 7 days)

After that she was released from Hospital, but she continued to have low fever on and off (99.3-99.8 F).

1 month ago she again regained high fever (101.6 F). Then again she was put on Arithromycin but it did not abate any fever. The doctors suggested that the dosage which was given to her earlier was too less and hence the bacteria still remained.

She is again put on Ceftriaxone (4 gm for 10 days). Still, every evening, inspiteof being in complete bed rest and no exertion, she has a fever of around 99.5 F - 99.9 F every day within 6.00-7.00 pm.

Kindly if you can come up with any direction that can point to any solution I'd be grateful to you.

(In case any particulars are needed from the blood culture report then please let me know)

Regards

Hi. I do know there's an Antibiotic susceptibility test to see what antibiotic would be best to use. This bacteria (along with some others) have become resistant to the usually used antibiotics. Any time you take an antibiotic you must take it the way it's labeled & all of it, even if symptoms seem to be gone. If any bacteria remains it can mutate to now be more resistant.
(I'm not saying your sister didn't take it correctly, just a little bit of info to give you.)
