Sore colar bone.

I'd say it started in about the middle of April, I started getting a REALLY sharp pain in my colar bone area. It's really sore and only happens every so often, it just sparks up and hurts like no other. It doesn't stop me from being able to move or anything it actually mainly hurts when I'm staying still and if I'm breathing heavily.
My boyfriend suggested that it could be a pinched nerve but I don't think it is since the pain doesn't feel like it's coming from my muscles, it actually feels like it's my bone. If I apply pressure to my colar bone I get a stabbing sensation that runs kind of up my neck and to my shoulder.

Anybody got any idea what it could be? I haven't done anything out of the ordinary that has hurt my shoulder or anything in the past couple of months so I'm totally out of ideas.

Thank you, I don't have health insurance and I don't have a job so I cannot go and see a doctor but I will try taking some anti-inflammatory pain killers and see if it helps next time it hurts again.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The pain can be due to costochondritis, where the joints of the collar bone are inflamed and the pain is felt in the bone. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you. Generally there is no cause. However it can be due to infection, blow, injury, or fibromyalgia. It usually goes away on its own. Otherwise it can be treated with muscle relaxants, and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs.
The other possibility is infection of the bone. Get an X-ray done and consult a doctor if the treatment suggested does not help.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
