skin wouldnt grow over scar

hi everyone, about 2 months  ago i was wresling around with my friend and hit my face over the side of the bed,and opened up pretty bad but i didnt go to the doctor for stiches because i was a little  drunk and would have been too late the next day. the scab fell off in about a week but no skin grew over the scar, so its red like if it were a kinda fresh wound
anyone know the reason why the skin didnt grow back? thanks in advance

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If the area is still red after two months, then probably a light scar tissue has replaced the skin. In such cases only a skin graft can help. When the area of skin that is lost is large, the skin does not grow back on its own. Also any cuts only heal by scar tissue. Skin has to be replaced by skin grafting. Pease consult your PCP and if it is indeed scar tissue you will need to consult a cosmetologist for skin grafting.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
