Red Eye

I have had a red eye for about five weeks now.  There is no pain, itching, or other symptoms.  In the morning when I wake up, it really doesn't look that red at all, but by the end of the day, it is bloodshot and it forms a red ring around most of my iris.  The other part of the eye seems unaffected.  At nighttime, I suppose I can feel a bit of strain, but that is about it.  I also wear contacts, but I switched to new ones in case the old ones were the cause.  Do I need to see a doctor, or will this eventually go away?

My previous reply should read:

"It should NOT be going red like that and for so long."

Get your eye checked out, sounds like you need some treatment.

Best wishes.

Your old contacts may have caused an infection.  Don't wear contacts until you see your eye specialist.  He will probably prescribe an anti-biotic ointment or drops for your eyes until it heals.

Sometimes a blood vessel will "pop" in the eye and it resolves itself.  But it's best to have a doctor look at it to be sure it's okay.  For eye health you should be taking Lutein and Bilberry.

Hope your eye is okay.

See your doctor and or the ophthalmologist.

You should get your eye examined to make sure everything is OK.
It should be going red like that and for so long.

Best wishes.
