Greetings -
For as long as I've known him, my husband had what I thought was a calcium deposit or sebaceous cyst on his head. It is located around the occipital and parietal bone fusion. It is a hard mass that has always been visible. It is moveable, it doesn't appear to be adhered to the bone. However, over the last 6-8 months, it has been growing. It started off the size of a dime and never really bothered him. It is now slightly larger than a quarter and is actually somewhat painful to the touch.
Any thoughts? I have made an appointment for him but i would like to hear if there's anyone out there that has heard or experienced anything of this nature.
Thanks!

A swelling that was earlier smaller, and is now growing and becoming painful can be an infected sebaceous cyst, a hair follicle infection, a neurofibroma, a melanoma, a wart, or even a skin tumor.
It is good you are consulting a doctor because any lump that suddenly starts growing should be tested immediately by a biopsy. A skin specialist would be ideal for an opinion. Usually a simple procedure is performed in a small operating theater with local anesthetic and mild sedation.
Take care!
