Severe deep itching in the pad of my hand

I have been having a problem with severe itching deep in the tissue of the pads under my first two fingers of my left hand.  No amount of scratching helps....  It is not a skin itch, but deep inside.  The area does seem to be a bit puffier than my right hand, but that could be from the constant scratching...

Any ideas????

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
In all probability this is could be due to side effect of a drug you are taking for rheumatoid arthritis. Also the inflammation of the joint can be transmitted as an itch sensation. Hence you feel the itch to be coming from deep within. This is also the reason for a slight swelling in the area.
Hope this helps. Please see your specialist for this.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I have the same thing including the 2 fingers. From experience with other areas of my body it is probably a pinched nerve or disc problem. Best wishes

I forgot to mention that I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis as well.  The blood tests came back normal but when they did xrays of all my joints I had the joint damage from RA.
