I am a 20 year old female. I was diagnosed with Scheuermann's disease, as well as wedged and dried discs in my lower spine when I was 10 years old. I also have Asthma, and IBS as well as reaccuring UTI.
I have had quite a lot of symptoms since I was around 13. I have seen a lot of different doctors, been checked for arthritis, Fibromyalgia and last year I had an MRI without contrast which was to check for MS.
This is a huge wall of a text and I do apologise for that, I've tried to keep it as brief as possible but at the same time it is kinda hard >_< I really appreciate the help, and thanks to anyone who even just takes the time to read it.
Symptons:
I have constant clicking joints & bones. Sometimes painful.
Problems walking, ankle muscles tighten or my leg muscles randomly give way and I collapse.
Numbness, tingling, in legs and arms. Whether I am sitting, standing, exercising or whatever. They randomly happen. This last week I have noticed while I have this numbness/tingling, I have swelling in my knees and along the left side of my arm (with palm facing towards me), and more prominent veins under the skin (my veins very rarely come to the top of the skin). It sometimes feels as if someone has tied a rope around 2-3 toes or fingers or my foot/wrist and has pulled it really tight.
Concentration issues, confusion, short term memory issues. Problems remembering more than one thing at once (e.g. Ask me to get you a pen, put the heating on and close the fridge and i'll only remember that you asked me to close the fridge), but then a few hours later, or even the next day I will randomly remember the other things I was asked to do/told.
Extreme Sensitivity to sound. Everything feels really loud, can't cope with more than 1 noise at once. E.g someone talking and TV on is extremely irritating and painful. I find that I have told someone to "shut up" to put it politely without even realizing.
Claustrophobic - I have no problems with small rooms if I am on my own. But if someone is standing next to me, leans over me, or gets in my face or something I feel extremely trapped and start panic attacking. Even if I am in a supermarket.
Touch sensitivity - The best way I can describe this as if a foreign object touches me when I am not expecting it to, it really hurts. It also sometimes trigures muscle spasms (will go into detail below). It can be anything from someone just putting their hand on my back, or a bug landing on me.
Muscle spasms - Last feb I started getting spasms in my left shoulder muscles. This seemed to then "spread" into all my other muscles. I get them everywhere, and by everywhere I really do mean everywhere. I haven't been able to smile since around march 2010 without the lip muscles spasming. I get them in my eyes, sometimes it feels as if I am having REM while I am awake, other times its my eyelids rapidly blinking.
Sometimes the muscle spasms are painful, it feels as if the muscle is trying to detach itself from my body. Othertimes I lose control of a limb. If my leg muscles spasm I sometimes fall over, if my arm/hand muscles spasm and sometimes it feels as if they have a mind of their own. E.g. They will try to pick stuff up, drop something i'm holding, I've even had to have a "fight" with myself to stop my arm from hitting someone or knock stuff over.
Sometimes my jaw seems to be the same, either constantly chattering as if I am shivering or sometimes locking up so I can't eat/drink etc.
I also get twitches, they're not painful. They sometimes are just a random one off and are a slight irritating, other times they can go on for 5-10 minutes.
I get tremors as well, these tend to happen if I am pulling/pushing or lifting something, as if I don't have enough strength in my muscle but do also happen even if i am not doing anything.
I have problems with my eyesight. Sometimes it feels as if my eyes are a camera which is stuck on auto focus and can't manage to focus upon something. Things can go from clear to blurry without me blinking or moving my eye. One minute I can see everything clearly, the next I I can bearly see a foot infront of me - sometimes less or more.
I have seen an optican, he didn't seem to want to listen to me when I was trying to explain the problem and tried to sell me another pair of glasses (same prescription as my current ones) I can't wear the ones I have as I seem to lose complete control of my eyes when they are on.
I also have sleeping problems. I never wake up before 11:30am. I can goto bed at 10pm or ealier, or any time before 11:30am and I cannot wake up until 11:30-12am. Sometimes even later. If I do goto bed after 11:30am and before 9pm, I can't sleep. I have tried staying up for a few days to make myself exhausted in the hope it would fix my sleeping pattern etc, but no matter what I try, I end up not being able to wake up.
If someone wakes me up before 11:30am, I end up having no energy, only having partial sight and sometimes not being able to move fully - Not sleep paralysis, but its like part of me is paralyzed. Sometimes I also wake up, and I am able to move and walk around fine but my eyes are moving rapidily - as if I am woken up during REM and it hasn't ended.
I also get extreme itching. Sometimes it can be all over my body, other times it limited to my legs or upper part. Sometimes its just 1 spot itching, i scratch it and it instantly moves elsewhere. Sometimes it feels like a burning, others it feels as if there are bugs crawling under my skin.
I also sometimes get the feeling that theres stuff crawling on my skin, but no itching. I react as if there really is a bug landing on the spot where the crawling feeling is.
There are also more symptons like random bed wetting (I never bedwet as a kid, It started when I was around 13), and I have had my bladder enlarged as it was the size of an 8 year old. Didn't help much.
Also pain levels can get quite extreme, stabbing pain, dull aches etc. I also get general discomforts which aren't painful but are more irritating than the pain.
I have time where I am feeling fine. Before the muscle spasms set in, I was fine from the oct 2009 till feb 2010.
I've had around 3 more stages of being fine since then. April was my most recent one, I was fine for around 2 weeks and then suddenly I had a headache and tremors and muscle spasms kicked in.
I've been given quite a lot of different medication, including a range of tablets including pain killers, anti depressants, amitriptyline, quite a few different types of serotonin tablets.
So far nothing has really helped. The serotonin tablets helped the best for a while, but they never last very long - 2-3 weeks max.
Any help is appreciated.
