Stomach/Internal Discomfort

Stomach/Internal Discomfort:

This past Tuesday (October 14th) I felt extremely nauseous.  Later in the evening, my nausea past.  Beginning this Thursday, still remaining an issue, I have this empty feeling inside - almost on the right side of my mid-point on my body.  I'm unsure if this is an issue with my stomach, etc...  What I know is that I'm in discomfort and has yet to go away.  As I'm not a physician, I can't diagnose myself.  The discomfort is almost sporadic, occurring at random times of the day - morning/evening, etc...  As mentioned, symptoms began this Thursday (from what I can recall).  I don't remember eating any unusual foods or foods not normally consumed.

If you have any suggestions on what this problem might be, I would appreciate any guidance.  I know something is going on, and unfortunately am thinking the worst.  Providing a different perspective and greater clarity can only help.  Thanks, in advance.

Hi

Thanks for the post.

Extreme nausea that passed but left behind discomfort in the stomach (in the area you described) could be due to acidity, gastric reflux (where food from stomach is thrown into your food pipe) or due to indigestion. It could also be a very mild viral infection that passed.

Taking OTC antacids, lowering the consumption of tea, coffee or alcohol and reducing/stopping smoking can help. Also taking frequent small meals and not missing meals will help.

However it is difficult to diagnose without examining. So please consult your doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else. Please keep me posted.

Hello,

There are many possibilities to your symptoms. The most likely one is appendicitis(inflammation of the appendix).Others are irritable bowel syndrome(irregular bowel movements of constipation and diarrhea along with the pain and nausea are there), Crohn's disease(Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen) , gall bladder disease, kidney infections, intestinal obstruction, mesenteric occlusion or enteritis.

Without examaintion and investigations like an ultrasound and CT scan abdomen, diagnosis is tough. So I sincerely advise you to take an opinion from a gastroenterologist and get a clinical examination and ultrasound done to confirm a diagnosis.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted if you have any additional queries.
