Sudden bulging ankle vien that hurts & leaves bruising

I've read the threads on this but don't find any recent info nor older, helpful answers- many people experiencing the same symptoms.  I have experienced a sudden pain first above my ankle,  then a month later,  below my left ankle...  w a bulging vein that streatches so much it leaves brusing..  First its bruised the shape of the vein,  than the bruising  spresds out like the  size  of a 1/2 $ coin.. It lasts a few minutes.  The first time I thought maybe I got bit by something... Don't see any real answers from the threads. I do not have medical and don't want to waste  money to be told they  never heard  of it...maybe I'll  contact  Dr.  OZ. So if this happens to anyone else or anyone knows what it can possibly be,  plz let  me  know...  I thought it was a blood clot the first time myself it was scary.... Not sure where to go.

It sounds to me like you might have a condition known as thrombophlebitis. Thrombo means blood clot, and phlebitis means a vein with inflammation. You definitely need to see your doctor. They will probably suggest you wearing what they call compression stockings. Try to keep that leg elevated as much as possible. I have the same problem in the calf of my left leg. It was brought on by years of working at the nursing home and using my legs for lifting. Please keep me updated on how you are doing.

Hi Dpizz2112.
The bruising is associated with a burst vein, likely due to the damage from the
blood pooling and the compromised wall tissue of the vein.
Lack of vein elasticity & low  muscle pumping action are responsible for the bulging veins, due to age, being overweight, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, genetics, pregnancy and perimenopausal hormonal changes  which are all possible factors.
Any of these apply to you?
There are some things you can do, but if your symptoms worsen, you might need to get a medical evaluation for possible medical treatment.
And as for wasting money b'cause.. they never heard of it, is not a good
argument, my dear.
This is a commonly occurring condition and most doctors would be able to
diagnose this on the spot.
Let me know what you think.
best wishes,
Niko
