My 6yo son has been battling something very strange for the last 2 years. It all started with a severe outbreak of sores on his tongue, spastic movements, and repetitive sounds, etc. The first episode lasted almost a month, but docs said it was "just a phase." After this, we had week long episodes about every 2-3 months. The episodes would begin with his not feeling well, then his tongue would "feel thick," sores would appear on the side of the tongue, and then he would start into his tics (basically it was like his whole body was chronically twitching). After he was diagnosed as a strep carrier and was on an antibiotic, the tics episodes mostly disappeared for almost a year. Then, a few weeks ago, he had another outbreak on his tongue and the tics reappeared with a vengeance a week later, but just for 24 hours. We though strep might be the culprit (i.e. PANDAs) but the bloodwork came back negative. Any ideas??
