Please get her to an Endocrinologist ASAP. If you think she needs emergent care, please do that.
It sounds like a thyroid issue; Hashimoto's Thyroiditis possibly.
It is not a problem for all the questions I just need all the help I can get, and what I have seen so far is amazing. I did some research this weekend from the information that I have been provided from you and so much now is starting to make sense. She has not been to an Endocrinologist we have not even been referred to one. The medications that she is on is as follows and this as I have been told is for high cholesterol and an under-active thyroid gland.
Inderal 10mg 2 tablets a day,
Aldactone 25mg 1 tablet in the evening,
Eltroxin 0,1 mg 1 tablet per day,
Trepiline 10mg 1 tablet in the evening this is supose to be for the vey bad headaches she gets.
Michol 40mg 1 tablet in the evening.
I am going to do the first and I think the best step is to find an Endocrinologist and see what there opinion is.
once again thanks for being so help full.
Kind regards Peter
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Either the hypothyroidism is not under control or there is some other cause. Generalized body edema (or swelling) can be very serious. It can be due to severe anemia, a failing heart, serious kidney disease, liver failure, electrolyte imbalance, polycystic ovary, low protein in the blood, and disorders of adrenal gland.
Please ask your girlfriend to consult an internal medicine specialist and a gynecologist and rule out these conditions one by one. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Sounds like she needs an endocrinologist for sure. She probably needs her renal function checked as well. That sounds like she is retaining fluid, the way you have explained it.
What exactly is the diagnosis? What medication is she taking? Was one of the physicians she saw an Endocrinologist?
Sorry for all the questions, but I need this info to answer you appropriately.
