11 Yr. Old Boy With Sharp Stabbing Abdominal Pains For 7 Months.

My 11 yr old son has been having sharp stabbing abdominal pains in his mid-abdominal area that shoot into his chest and back area for 7 months. He say's it fells like someone constantly stabbing him with an ice pick. They have gottin worse this last month. The last month they have also started in his hands/fingers, legs and feet. They come and go all day and night. He has also had in this 7 months severe nearsightedness 20/200 l/eye and 20/400 r/eye and hearing loss that's gonna require hearing aides. Doctor has done Basic Metabolic Profile, CBC, H. Pylori, Liver Profile, TSH, LIPASE, AMYLASE, Celiac Disease, Sucrase, Maltase, Palatinase, GI Biopsys, RA, Sed Rate, Abdominal X-Rays, Ultrasound, CT Scan. All normal except: Lactase ( he's lactose intolerant). Lipid Profile: Cholesterol 215, LDL 144 (everything else normal). ANA Titer Positive 1:1280 pattern: Centromere, RBC 5.34, NEUT 45.8, LYMPH 41.8, EOS 4.8 CREATINE 0.4, OSMOLALITY 275, URIC ACID 3.4. He was born at 25 weeks due to a placental hemhorage. Weighed 1 lb. 13 oz. Beside's the normal premie complications he's normal and healthy. Except for everything the last 7 months. He has missed alot of school because of the pain. We try to live healthy and eat healthy, plenty of rest an playing outside with siblings, no soda's, food coloring, refined foods, ect. Go to Pediatric Rheumatologist next month, soonest they can get him in. None of the Autoimmune Disorders seem to fit with his symptoms though. Hope someone has a suggestion of something were maybe missing. At our wits end. Thanks.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I am sorry to hear about your son. Either your son’s problems have an autoimmune component to it or the symptoms are due to a tumor or hemorrhage in the brain. Hence a MRI of the brain should be done.
It is also possible that your son has Usher’s Syndrome of probably Grade 3 type. This is associated with both hearing loss and poor eye sight.
A rare autoimmune disorder caller Cogan’s syndrome is also a strong possibility since both hearing loss and poor eye sight are associated with pains in the abdomen, arms and legs.
Please discuss this with his present doctor and see if you can do a MRI of brain meanwhile. Try for an earlier appointment with a rheumatologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Regarding the poor vision, hearing loss, and stabbing pains in extremities- has anyone checked to make sure your child does not have a brain tumor?
