What is wrong with me? What can my blood test rule out?

I have been getting lots of different symptoms over the last 4 weeks or so, although i have a few ideas as to what it could be, i dont really know. I am getting results for a blood test in a couple of days but my symptoms are effecting my sleep and i dont know if what ive got will be detected.

It all started 4 weeks ago when i found a lump in my anus.. i put it down to hemorrhoids but then symptoms that followed suggested it could be an anal abscess. (Pain in the anal area or buttocks, Fever, a lump in the anal area)

The first docotor i went to said they were hemorrhoids after visually inspecting them and gave me suppositories and ointment for it. They didnt work and i was still getting the same symptoms so i went back to the doctor who said that it didnt sound like hemorrhoids because there is no bleeding and they were painful (only mildly over a couple of days).

I was also told by the first doctor that it couldnt be an anal abscess because it would be extremely painful. The second doctor suggested that i went to the hospital to get a sample of the tissue taken for inspection but i decided not to since they havnt been bothering me for the last couple of weeks. But i am now thinking that they could be something to do with all of the other symptoms i am having.

Also when i was at the doctors i found out i had high blood pressure and had lost weight. I find this suprising since i am 20 years old and i eat healthily etc.

I took a urine sample which didnt detect anything and i am still waiting for results of a blood test. I also have to go to the hypertension clinic at the hospital.

The last 4 months i have constantly been searching through medical sites trying to find out what is wrong with me and worrying myself alot in the process. The things that seem likely are hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, Crohn's Disease or Generalized Anxiety.

My many symptoms include..

Nausia, loss of appatite, swelling feeling in neck, mild sharp pains around different areas of my body, weight loss, hypertension, random itchy spots around skin, fatigue, mood swings, dizziness, disturbed sleep. These symptoms all seem to come and go and sometimes i can be feeling fine. They seem to be worse at nite though.

I am wondering if the blood test will detect any of the possible things that could be wrong with me. Although I really want to get rid of these symptoms I am scared of having any kind of surgery.

Sorry about the rediculasely long post, i think typing about it helps me deal with it.

Thanks for replying. Do you think i have an anal abscess then? Would the pain not be more severe and would it shrink for a couple of weeks and then come back again?

I know my sister has hyperthyroidism but i dont think it is hereditry, also my mom has hypertension.

Im not sure what blood test it was, i got it done at the doctors because of my high blood pressure. I will also be having more blood tests at the hospital but thats not for 2 weeks.

I am at university and i seem to get ill every time i come back home and this is the longest ive been home yet and this is when all the problems have started. Im not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hi,

I am glad that you have posted here. Looking at what you are suffering through, I can imagine the anxiety you are going through.

Other than the symptoms around the anal abscess, your general health seems to be taking on a lot of damage.

They are varied and the Hormonal/endocrinal system is the one which may be involved to give you such widespread signs. You are right in thinking of Thyroid abnormalities.

Does anyone in your family has similar symptoms? What is your sex and what is your social history?

I am sure the blood test would give vital clues, at least to rule out some areas, however, what are the specific blood test that you are describing here?

Let me know if you may need any more help / information
