Wound that hasn't healed

I have a wound, right above my anus, I've had it since October 2008. Before I noticed it I had an extreme amount of itching between my butt cheeks. The would is probably 1.3cm and .3-5cm deep. It doesn't hurt but bleeds whenever I clear my bowl but soon stops after. All other wounds I have on my body have healed up in a proper time frame. I haven't seen a doctor about this because of where it is I'm extremely embarrassed of the location. There is no visible swelling or dis-colour around the area. And any other colour is pink or clear. Should I try some antibiotic creams or maybe try and put something over the wound or should I head to a doctor?
Thanks for your time.
Scotty.

Hello,

What you seem to be having is called pilonidal sinus. It occurs under the skin between the buttocks (the natal cleft) a short distance above the anus.It is found mainly in men who are obese, having sedentary job or previous persistent irritation or injury to the affected area. The only treatment available is surgery(excision and drainage).I would sincerely advise you to consult a surgeon for this.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.Kind regards.
