Vertigo symptoms

I went to Seattle to visit my friends, and to go sight seeing. Anyways I went to this restaurant called Newport (seafood),they were serving steamed clams. Anyways to make a long story short I ate them and the next day my temperature jumped to 103.5,I was dehydrated in about 12 hours, and I had really bad vertigo. So I took the flight back home and went straight to the doctor,he told me I most likely got Vibrio (Stomach infection from clams). So I stayed 2 days in the hospital and I my stomach problems along with my fever went away. However my vertigo did not,I feel like I'm on a boat all day constantly shaking and moving. This has been going on for 4 months now,I have a history of anxiety disorder however it is very mild and I haven't had an attack since I was 13 (5 years ago). I also have a history of my ears always being infected and whenever a doctor would check my ears he would inform me that they looked as if I had a viral infection. So maybe the Vibrio wasn't the cause and it was just a coincidence or maybe the vibrio just "turned" something on or kicked start my vertigo problem. This vertigo feeling gets worse as the day goes on,the morning is fine and then as the day progresses it all goes to hell. Any suggestions?

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
All these symptoms can be related to ear infection but appear more like Meniere’s Disease. “It is characterized by episodes of dizziness and tinnitus and progressive hearing loss, usually in one ear.” Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A9ni%C3%A8re's_disease
Please discuss this with your ENT. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thank you for your response I appreciate your help. I will defiantly get to an ENT doctor or an audiologist and they can hopefully see what is going on.I think the flight may have aggravated it as you said,I also have symptoms of an inner ear infection such as ringing in the rings. Also sometimes my ears feel as if they are underwater and my hearing fluctuates. Are any of these symptoms related to vertigo? For the most part I keep myself in check and keep my anxiety under control,my family has a history of general anxiety so it feels like as my aunt puts it "Someone chasing you with a damn knife all day" :P

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
The gastric upset was definitely due to calms. Since I have not examined you I can only speculate. Maybe you had internal ear infection that along with calms poisoning led to a rise in temperature. The pressure changes in flight and elevator could have aggravated it. Have you been to an ENT recently?

However since you have panic attacks, and this was definitely a bad experience, it is quite understandable that you are anxious. It would do you good to go back to the doctor who treated you before for these attacks.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
