Hi I am a 22 year old female the last 2 weeks I have had a burning sensation in my right lung and my sides also I'm getting a sharp pain in my stomach just under my ribcage and heart palpitations went to the doctor and he said it is because I had a viral infection a month ago I'm not too sure anyone know what it could be?

Mine is weird because ive pulled many muscles from lifting heavy things over the years and have never felt anything like this in my abdomen/hip/lower back and rib/mid back. And I know i didn't do any heavy lifting or exercising when my rib/mid back starting hurting bad because i was in bed the whole week from the lower pain. But after all blood work and many dr visits, everything was ruled out, including gastrinitis. So I'm off to physical therapy and injections this week. Who knows how I pulled it..

Yep. yours could be gastrinitis because of the burning and locations. Just make sure you don't have blood in your stool.

I was told by ER nurse I had blood in my stool because it was black. And then gastroenterologist said it couldn't have been blood.

Hope you have better doctors than I've had and don't get bounced around!

Gastritis? It can cause a burning sensation and sharp nerve pains in the stomach, under the rib cage, the sides and your back.

I was just misdiagnosed with gastritis. I was having sharp stabbing and throbbing pains under right rib around it and extremely bad in my back behind rib cage where i couldn't walk or move. Had to go to ER twice and 12 doctor visits in the last few weeks. Was misdiagnosed (also with abdominal pain that had before this rib pain happened) many times and finally was told that it was a badly pulled muscle. It wasn't gastritis because I didn't have burning and the prilosec didn't work. I've had chest pains but that was from tensing up from the abdomen/rib/back pain.

I'd guess since you have burning and pain in the stomach area under rib cage that you could either have gastritis or maybe a pulled muscle?
