chronic digestive problems.

hello. i am experiencing very odd symptoms for the past 3 years. i get nauseated after anything and everything i eat. i also get a great amount of intestinal gas which is very painful. i also have frequent heartburn. im thinking it may be GERD gastroesophagel reflux disease. i had a chiari decompression surgery 3 years ago and my odontoid process removed to let more room for my brain in. i also still have a syrinx which is a buildup of cerebral spinal fluid. im wondering if i had damage to the vagus nerve during surgery or from my cerebellum pressing on my brain stem for so long. i am currently taking the anti nausea and anti emetic pill zofran and an acid reducer. so if anybody has any ideas or anything that could help me that would be great. thank you!

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
It is really difficult to comment whether the symptoms are due to vagus nerve or not. The gas, heart burn can be due to acidity or even due to GERD. It can also be due to IBS or due to Crohn’s or Celiac disease. Keep a stress diary and see if a particular food causes more gas and heart burn.
GERD symptoms are often best relieved by a combination of drugs. Talk to your doctor about it. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this
