I have symptoms like theodoresmom. I am a 53 year old female with chronic pain in the lower right quadrant of my groin. I get some relief when I have a bowel movement or empty my bladder. I've had slight pain for many years, but never this severe or constant. It became chronic after I drove for more than 8 hours on a trip in 2005. On the way back the next day (another 8 hours) I felt pain on my tail bone area like I was sitting on top of something inside me. This continued for almost two months until I saw my doctor in January, 2006. I have the opposite experience of theodoresmom of awakening with less pain and having it build up during the day, especially if I pick up heavy objects, and it's almot crippling by bed time.
I'm petite at 5' and now weigh 145 lbs. I had one pregnancy - my daughter who is 30 years old - and I still have my uterus and ovaries. I have noticed that my stomach area has become enlarged, but I attribute this to my fatty liver, a sedentary lifestyle, and old age. My cholesterol and triglyceride levels are high and I'm on the verge of becoming a diabetic. I have gallstones, discovered as a result of an ultrasound for the chronic pain I'm experiencing and x-rays done which showed nothing unusual. A recent MRI revealed I have a bulging disk and stenosis on the L4-L5 lumbar. My doctor referred me to a neurosurgeon who sent me for physical therapy which did not help me. The neurosurgeon determined, after a neurological test, that I have no nerve damage and am not a candidate for back surgery. I had a bone density test done last week and I'm doing a hemocult test next week before I see my doctor on April 10th.
Other than this chronic pain, I feel fine overall. So, we are back to square one and I do not know what steps my doctor will take next. All I know is that it is more than a year and my pain is getting worse and no one knows what is wrong with me.
