cirvical pain 2 herniations 2 bulging discs and numbness pins needles both hands.

I was rear ended in end of february of 2010. c3-C4,C4-C5 are bulging C5-C6,C6-C7 are herniated. numbness pins/needles to burning in both hands ring finger through to pinky with the left hand slightly worse the right. neurosurgeon  says" that I am in limbo" not hurt enough for surgery but not healed enough to get back to work. here it is coming up on 12 months and I'm still in this pain cycle. although my pain is decreased due to the 4 oxycodone that i take on a daily  basis. I have had ruffly 5 months of physical therapy have not had an erection since july which was the  last time i was back to work. oh and i was back to work 2 times. march 15 through april 1 and july 6 through july 23rd. both times i still had pain but the numbness was way decreased pins/needles were almost non existent. but by the end of both those periods i could not pick up a piece of paper. fingers so useless that i could not even itch my ear with my pinky, and we all know how important that is. I don't know what to do. my symptoms at this point are not improving like they did the 2 previous times I went back to work. someone please give me some guidance. i really don't know what to do. auto insurance is not happy with me. my employer is not happy with me. heck i even lost my marriage of  13 years because she no longer respects me because I could not work any longer. I don't know what to do. I just want to be healed and move on with my life. im tired of the pain the vegetive state the pills put me in and most of all the numbness. in my fingers. I mean it takes me forever to type. i keep hitting wrong keys and stuff.

First thing is my blue cross does not cover auto accident injuries. so my auto insurance which i will not name is paying for my health care as it relates to my auto injury. I have seen a orthopedic surgeon  and a neurosurgeon, 3 different personal pcp a physiatrist  my chiropractor until  the auto insurance chiropractor cut me off from my chiropractor. , 2 different physical therapy companies currently being shipped off to a 3rd one who was ordered for me to go through work hardening, and now auto insurance is going to send me to there " independent evaluation".  oh and i have a case worker who auto insurance has put under contract to get me back to work. oops we have to add good old st.johns medical back to work who did the functional capacity evaluation which says i cannot not safely nor physically perform my job, but my physiatrist wants me to go anyways.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Please consult another neurologist as you probably have spinal compression high up. You will probably need some kind of surgery to relieve the pressure. Ask around, ask your PCP and see what can be best done for you. All your symptoms point towards a nerve compression. Take care!

first ofd all you need to find a neurosurgon that will take the time to sit with you and go over all your options. you also need to get on a pain killer that is not addictive. I have degenerative disc disease with stenosis. 3 years ago I injured my back at work, herniating l-5, s-1. I have never felt so much pain in my life. At first I couldn't walk, sit on the toilet, or even stand to sit in the bath tub because the hot water caused me evenmore pain. I left the state that I was living in so that I could be with my family to get the help I needed for everyday living. After a year I was able to walk again and function alittl better but was still in more pain than I ever want to be in. Finnally I found a great Dr. who did surgery on my back but It was really to late. He did manage to allivate alot of the pain but because of the length of time that work comp took to certify this surgeon and approve the surgery, pain is something that is just going to be a part of my life along with numerous restrictions. I am currently goin to school to do something that will allow me to work even tho I have these restrictions. So don't let it go so far that it becomes to late to do anything about it. In the mean time you will want to stay as active as you can without causing yourelf more problems. It helps, believe me.

I forgot to mention that I have nauseous  headaches where some one is trying to pull my cervical discs out through my eye balls. these headaches happen as i turn my head left and right, look up down to the right and down to the left down straight also i get them while climbing up and down stairs. and riding in elevators up and down.I can no longer wear my hood up on my coat or hoody because it causes that nauseous headache.
