contant vomiting over 8 year period

My mother has been sick for about 8 years .  Her symptoms are contant vomiting.  about every three months she has what we call a "stomach attack".It usually goes on for about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. She vomits green, brown, sometimes black.  Everytime she goes to the emergency room, they send her home saying all the "tests" are negative.  She has a past history of drug abuse.  She is overweight.  She was has just found out that she is border line diabetic.  She has high blood pressure.  I know that she has alot of thing wrong with her but i just feel that there is something deeper going on and no one will help us figure out what is wrong.  I am really concerned .  I would like to know if you might have any ideas on what it could be.  Or question i can ask her doctor to help ficgure this out.

Very concerned and apprciative for an answer, niquie!

I looked up your mum's symptoms on-line and could only come up with sites that discussed liver problems, some of which (the hep's) are very common in drug users.

At risk of offending: Does your mother desire extra attention from time to time, in the form of sympathy? Do these attacks coincide with events in your life, or close relative's, that might distract you (or them) from her momentarily?

I only ask because I could find no disease in my, admittedly, quick search, that mentioned vomiting colorful bile. It is possible, however, that if she has liver disfunction due to the drug abuse, or indeed has hep., she might drink a little alcohol or take some drug that has this affect on her from time to time.

I will keep looking for answers for your mum and come back with any information I find that may be helpful. Good luck to you in your search. It is very sweet of you to want to help her.
