Healthy in July, 2010
In July went to Atlantic coast in Rhode Island. Worked for several hours in thicket and brush, cutting it back. When finished, was told deer frequent the thicket eating the berries.
3 months later: October 25th had a fever of about 105. After that, every night – and only at night - for exactly 1 month, had a fever that spiked to 103 starting at 8PM and lasting to 3AM the next morning. For the next 10 days, starting about November 14th, at about 1AM tremendous sweating and shakes (not chills) accompanied the fevers and lasted for about 2 hours. On November 24th had a low grade fever that started at 5PM (documented at Duke Hospital in Raleigh) and subsided by 7PM. The fevers never returned. During this period of 1 month, exactly 30 lbs. were shed. (Started out at 178 lbs. on home scale in October; On November 24th – 148 lbs.) In the month of December, no aches or pains and weight gain of 10 lbs. to 158 lbs., seeming to be on the mend.
By first week of January, severe aching in hands and shoulders began, especially in the morning. By the end of January, a regimen of arthritis meds was started. By the end of February the medication had to be increased and an x-ray of the hands showed no arthritis. By the end of March, it was noted that the pain was in the feet, in addition to the hands and shoulders and was present all night long. Due to this horrendous pain, sleep for over 2 hours at a time was almost impossible. However, it was noted by the end of April the pain was unbearable and not only in the joints but palms of hands and burning in the soles of the feet. Pain also radiated up the arms and down the legs – more like neuropathy. Also, there is a crunching sound in the cervical vertebrae when the head is turned. Weight was decreased by 8 lbs. to 150 lbs. (home scale) even though eating more. Intense pain continues throughout the day but becomes excruciating as soon as lying down.
As of May 9, 2011 there has been shortness of breath, pains in diaphragm, confusion, fatigue, trouble rationalizing and even speaking, hot flashes, just to mention a few recent occurrences.
Summary:
Weight loss of 1lb. per day for 1 month
Fevers at night only for 1 month
Shakes & sweating for 1½ weeks
Arthritis type pain in hands and shoulders
Neuropathy pain and burning in hands, legs, and feet
Total fatigue
