fatigue and hair loss, 35 year old female

I am at wits end with my health so any advice you can give me is appreciated... I have been acutely ill for almost a year and it's a big mystery that I can't solve, please help me...

Three years ago I started noticing a significant drop in my energy.  I was getting sick all the time and I started getting migraines and panic attacks.

Then about a year ago I got really sick with massive acid reflux. I got an endoscopy.  The endoscopy came back 100% healthy and normal and the doctor (a gastro specialist) prescribed me prilosec.  The prilosec wasn't working so I went to an herbalist and they gave me herbs (liquorice root & aloe mostly).  After 3 months on the prilosec and herbs the gastrointestinal problems faded.

Then I started having intense panic attacks.  I felt very strange and tired all the time.  Then I felt like I was getting the flu. I was lightheaded, I had naseau, I was weak and very fatigued.  I almost felt like I was being poisoned.  This went on for three weeks and so I went to the doctor and he told me I had the flu and I should get more rest.  I did.  After another week I had debilitated to being so tired that I couldn't get out of bed. I was very pale and lightheaded and sick to my stomach.  I was so uncomfortable that I could sleep through the night.

Then I just started to feel like I was going to throw up all the time and I was too tired to get out of bed so I went to the hospital.  They found an ovarian cyst.  The sent me to the obgyn.  He scheduled surgery to remove the cyst.  While I was waiting for the surgery my cyst ruptured and then I felt even worse.  The pain was excruciating.  Then I had the ovary and tube removed on the left.  When the surgery was done they found endometriosis and cauterized that while they were inside.  (This wasn't a surprise since I had really bad periods since I was young.)

The recovery from surgery was long.  It took me 4 days to be able to get up and move around.  10 days to cook for myself, 2 months to walk 20 mins and 3 months to drive.  I felt like I was making progress but it was very slow.

Then 4 months after my surgery my hair started falling out and my progress of healing seemed to not be moving forward any more.  The pain in the surgical area was going away but I was still very fatigued.  I was struggling to work part time.  I started to get energy dips so bad that I had to take cat naps.

Now, it has been 6 months since my surgery and I am still very fatigued all the time, I am still loosing hair and I am still suffering through extreme energy lows.  Something inside of me knows that something is really not right with me.  I am eating everything organic, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean meats.  I try to walk around as much as I can but walking seems to make my fatigue worse.

I went to the obgyn 2 weeks ago and she said all my tests and scans are coming back normal.  She has referred me to an endocrinologist.  I will see her later this month.

Has anybody out there had any experience with something like this?  I feel like something systemic is wrong with me but me and my doctors are stumped so far.

Thank you,

s

Hi i would start b having a thyroid test, and maybe a full blood count, your symptoms sound very hypo, thyroid
The endo will test for this when you see her.
Hope this helps,
Anaemia can make you tired, and very pale, also.
My hair fell out, and i was very poorly with thyroid illness.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The three most important causes of extreme fatigue with hair loss are anemia, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. Get your PCP to run tests for these. Another thing is to rule out H pylori infection of the gut.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
