i have continous low grade fever since d past three weeks which comes only in d evening....though there arent any other symptoms,my apetite is absolutely fine, there is no weight loss,no vomitings and even my tests came out to be fine,my doctor has recommended some further detailed tests, the reports of which will come soon....can u tell me wat can this be??
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Evening rise in temperature is generally due to anemia, diabetes, hypothyroid states, overwork, stress and fatigue. It is also seen in diseases like tuberculosis. Dehydration too can be a cause.
Recurrent or chronic fever is seen in tuberculosis, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) and other auto immune disorders, UTI, drug fever, sinusitis, glandular fever, otitis media, IBS, HIV, STDs, endocarditis, parasitic infestations, fungal infections, lymphomas and other cancers etc.
A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind, which you have gone for. You will have to wait for the results. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
thank you for d post doctor,
i have gone though some further tests,d result for typhoid igm and TB came out to be postive...also i am an anemic patient...my doctor isnt really sure wat it is becs according to him it cannot be typhoid(considering d nature of d fever)...he had suggested a medicine course for malaria earlier which got over last night...i feel the pattern of the fever has changed after dat(it has come down) bt i have weakness and breathless at d same time....

If tests for typhoid and TBhave come out to be positive then you must be having typhoid. Regarding TB, the Montoux test and ESR can be high in many cases and need further follow up. Typhoid generally presents with high fever and GI symptoms like diarrhea. However it can present without these classical symptoms too. Hence the test is diagnostic. If in doubt, you can get the test repeated.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
the montoux test for TB was negative,my further test results are:-
typhi dot Igm-positive
Elisa test for tb IgM-positive
Elisa test for tb IgG-dubious
d syptoms doesnt look anything like typhoid because m having low grade fever(which persists between 99 to 100) and headache, there arent any other symptom except this
Do you think it cannot be either of the two cases bt just simple anaemia???
also i have started having pain which starts from d back of my skull till my spinal chord, wat can dis be according to you??......there have been more tests regarding this recommended by my doctor,d results of which will come tomorrow...
