Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Usually gall bladder polyps less than 1 cm are benign or not cancerous. If it is a >3cm polyp then it is a cause of concern (can be an adenocarcinoma), otherwise if it is indeed 3.7 mm, it should not be a cause of concern. Normally these are found as an incidental finding when ultrasound is done for some other reason. These small polyps are usually unshed mucus membrane or due to gall stone, adenomyomatosis, or hyperplastic cholecystosis. However, do consult your mother’s doctor once. Take care!
Are they not concerned with that. Anything I feel larger than one centimeter should be biopsied. Or maybe they might want to remove the gallbaldder. since she does have a hx of cancer. Please get this checked out. Hope this helps.
if theres concern over the gallbladder, it should be ok because the gallbladder is one of those things the body can live without. if shes concerned and her dr may be concerned, she can ask them to remove it. its a pretty simple procedure, and will eliminate the possibility of cancer in that organ. but it is essential to keep getting checkups because cancers tricky. it can pop up any place any time, you just never really know. also, ive learned that drs have a hundred words for the same thing. a polyp is a cyst is a mass, etc etc. while these polyps may not be cancer, you may hear words like benign growth, basically a tumor which may or may not be cancerous.. any medical jargon youre given though, its recommended she urge her dr to just remove the gallbladder to avoid the possible problems with it.
