labia minora/clitoris discomfort

by ray_mond, Jul 01, 2009 10:01PM
I have an on-and-off pain on my right minora labia. Every once in awhile my right labia becomes extremely sensitive (top of labia, small area, therefore could even possibly be the clitoris)
so sensitive that it pains me with any friction or even touch.
the area gets rather red too but have not noticed any swelling or anything.

I have (normal) discharge, white, odourless.
only other abnormalty in that region would be that the sides of my labia minora at the bottom (closest to the anus) regularly gets very red and itchy and sore. I am just presuming this is from dryness and am only stating it in case it helps! (..signs of a yeast infection??)

Could this be a nerve problem?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Reaction to the fiber of undergarments, toiletries, repeatedly touching the area, soaps, shampoos, toilet paper etc can all cause the symptoms you mentioned. Local antifungal vaginal creams are available but you should not apply them unless you have fungal infection. These can also cause severe reaction locally if you are allergic to them. Do discuss this with your gynecologist and get yourself examined.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thank you for your reply.

I can understand that the irritation may be due to a reaction but why would I have the sharp clitoral pain along with the itchy discomfort? what is the relation?

Hi
The pain could be due to clitoral adhesions that are caused by repeated infections or irritations. Periclitoral abscess is another possibility. Gonococcal infections, vulvular Crohn’s disease and valvular endometriosis are the other possibilities.
Please discuss this with your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thanks again. I have taken a pill for a yeast infection but am still going to make an appointment with my GP.
I think it is possible due to a certain vaginal wash I use as well as tight fitted under garments the symptoms are most likely a yeast infection. Ill give it a couple of days and see if anything has improved now that I am medicated...if not, I hope the GP has some answers!
