lump behind hear

hi male and 21, so around four months ago i notice this lump behind my right ear not on the ear just behind it. It doesn't hurt when i touch or anything, I thought maybe it was something to do with the chemicals i use to clean shoes with (naphtha or something like that)
recently the lump now is rough like a dry elbow kinda rough and i notice that the lump is touching behind my ear where is now the same kind of rough as well, it wasn't like that before i first notice and yesterday i swear that the roughness spread a little behind the ear throughout the day the lump still feels the same. sometimes it i feel it itches though i don't if it's just me thinking about it that's making it feel itchy (makes sense?). I can't go to the doctors just yet (Uninsured) but i should in a couple weeks so yea...thanks in advanced

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is difficult to comment without examination.  Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue).
You may not have been sick but local infections like dandruff or dermatitis too can cause a lymph node. Watch the lump. Do not touch everyday but once in 10-15 days. If the lump increases in size, becomes painful, changes color, bleeds, changes shape or consistency or more similar lumps appear then consult a doctor (it would be good if you can go to a walk in clinic and get this examined). Hope this helps. Take care!

if it doesnt pain, it seems it is just excess skin or tissue growth. It does not need attention unless it hurts...Dont worry!
