Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
This pain can be due to kidney stones, or sciatica. An ultrasound of abdomen and urine test can help diagnose this and a MRI of the lower spine can help diagnose sciatica. It can also be due to superficial nerve compression (lateral femoral cutaneous nerve), that comes from the hip area and gets pinched. This condition is called meralgia paresthetica and is often due to weight gain or wearing tight clothes and belts. Losing some weight or wearing loose clothes and belts often helps relieve the pain/numbness/tingling. Also injection of lignocaine (anesthetic agent) at the site helps. It can also be a simple muscle pull.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral to a neurologist or urologist. Take care!
hey debbie,
go to a doctor
you may have pulled a muscle in your thigh and that would cause your butt to hurt because you have a weak thigh. is there swelling or any visible damage? if not i would try heat to relax your muscle. if that makes it worse try ice and go see a sports doctor.
Hey Debbie sorry to hear about your pain is there any way you may have pulled a muscle lately? Thats what it sounds like. How long has this been going on and has it gotten worse?
