Really odd

My sister has been going through this thing that is so odd. A few months ago she started having some left side numbness and tingling. She went to a neurologist, he said she was fine, her MRI was clean. A few weeks ago, she started having left side jaw pain so intense she could barely see. She went to see the dentist, and he said nothing was wrong with her. He said it was possible she had a cracked tooth which wouldnt show up on an xray. He sent her to an endodontist, who said he didnt see anything, gave her a root canal anyway just in case, didnt see anything while rooting around. Still had the pain. She then noticed that if she sat up very straight, or help her head up very straight, it didnt hurt. But if she dipped her head or slouched, major pain. She could sleep without a pillow and sleep through the night, but with a pillow the pain would wake her. She also noticed back pain a little above the point between her shoulder blades. She went to her back doctor, who said it was unrelated, because spinal pain never radiates up. She dislocated her pelvis 10 years ago, and has some lower back issues because of it, but never had neck or upper back pain before. Shes average weight, and in good health otherwise. the only medication she takes is birth control and ambien for insomnia. We are a little freaked out, since mystery illnesses have always been my specialty, not hers, and her husband is worried because MS is in his family, so thats what he thinks it is. What on earth could possibly be going on here?

HI..I would get the copies of her MRI reviewed by another dr...sometimes things can get overlooked...

It sounds familiar to me as cranial instability...do u know if she has Ehlers-danlos...hyper flexible joints, easy to bruise, and slow to heal?

Thanks everybody. After a lot of back and forth, it turns out my Mom has Ehlers-Danlos. Apparently my parents forgot to share this information. So since we both have hypermobility, poor healing, etc. we are going to get tested for it. Of course, had I known earlier, I would have seriously reconsidered the breast reduction surgery I had. Especially since my breast tissue never reattached to my chest wall. But to be fair, I think my mom was diagnosed after that.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
There is a chance that your sister has compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region. This can happen due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, herniated disc, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc. A MRI of the cervical spine and nerve conduction studies may be required. Please consult a neurologist. The treatment is to remove the compression. You have to discuss the best treatment option with a neurologist, which can range from medication to physiotherapy to traction, cervical collars or even surgery. Alternatively you can visit a chiropractor or a physical therapist and learn some exercises which you can do to relieve the compression.
Use a hard bed to sleep. Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will do wonders. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs help.
Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your sister’s doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

How is her heart?  She may need to go to a cardiologist to have that check as well?
