running and bruising

I am a 48 y/o runner, I average 20+ miles a week. I bike an average of 24 mi per week, I step an hour a week and use hand weights during toning workouts.  I take OPC's daily, CA x1/day, drink lots of water but for some reason I continue to get quarter size bruises on my inner thighs and quads not to mention the inner sides of my upper arms (biceps) I get lots of these that just appear out of no where and they stay for days, sometimes they are a bit sore as if I hit something but I KNOW I did not.  I only take ibprophen on occasion for soreness sooo what is the deal, they are very annoying and I have no known illnesses that could cause it, I feel great!

What you need before fooling around with vitamin K, is to have a hematologist do a blood work-up to insure you have clotting factors that work within normal limits.

The problem is serious because if you are having bruises, you could fall and hit your head and end up with a subdural hematoma.

You are beyond the point where you are asking people to look at websites that advertise your supplements.

You require some blood lab work.

Thanks for your response, (I think) lots of serious possibilities that can cause one to become chronically worried....:)  OPC-Oligomeric Proanthocyanidans- is a daily super antioxident blend from cell essentials. It is a Isotonic and effervescent formula for better absorption. I've been taking it on and off for 3 years now and I totally believe in it...I blew the heart check doctors away with excellent counts, my blood is fine, however I admit I could be low on K and I do take B complex shots 2x a month because I am in that age range that does not absorb B as well.  This has proven out great for me because It has given me back energy I thought I had lost from youth!  I am going to go at it 1 thing at a time First vit. K  Then possibly back down to every other day from the OPC's because it does have a vit. in it that is a blood thinner. Then if I don't get results I will check in with my Doctor. Check out the website for cellessentials.com I would love to hear more opinions on it

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I am not sure what you mean by OPC. If you are not on any medications like anticoagulants, blood thinners or birth control pills then this could be due to clotting disorders, low platelet count, fragile spider veins, deep vein thrombus, deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K, a liver disease or certain cancers. It could also be due to pressure urticaria. Since you are on medications then you need to discuss that with your doctor.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
