When I go from sitting to standing I feel really hot, dizzy and am having a very sharp pain on the right side of my head. They only last a few seconds, But seem to be getting stronger and more frequent. The pain is so intense that I usually have to hold on to something and close my eyes until they pass. I have talked to a couple of Doctor's about this and still don't have an answer. If anyone would have any idea as to why this is happening I would greatly appreciate it.. Thanks
Hello I agree with curren3 that you are having symptoms of Orthostatic Hypotension or POTS-postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, when you change position it causes a sudden drastic drop in blood pressure and this causes the dizzy and hot feelings, and can cause a headache.
It is possible that vasovagal syncope also known as neurally mediated hypotension (NMH) could be accompanying it as well, causing the severity of the head pain. What occurs with NMH is it causes the blood pressure drop too, and the blood collects in your extremities away from the lungs, heart, and brain and causes the dizziness. Then the tachycardia or rapid heart rate from the POTS may actually occur to return the blood flow back to the vital organs from the extremities.
If you've never had it before you do need to see your doctor and determine why you are now experiencing it. It may be triggered by a bacterial or viral infections-like mono, pneumonia, pregnancy, decreased venous return which could result from hypovolemia-low plasma volume, or Sympathetic Overactivity could also be the cause.
Treatment may consist of dietary changes ie)drinking more water, eating small meals and meals low in carbohydrates, avoiding alcohol and caffeine. It could also require treatment with medications.
I am certain it is orthostatic hypo-tension, there is a syndrome called POTS, which you may want to look into. Check your blood pressure sitting and then standing, the drop may be severe and causing the symptoms.

I Hope This Helps. Good Luck and God Bless Brenda
