sharp pain in my head

This might sound weird but sometimes out of nowhere I get these severe sharp pains that go through my head. I am not on any medication at the moment and haven't been for atleast a year. I'm 20 yrs old. I do smoke cigs and weed. I drink occasionally but not often. They don't last long just a second but whatever I'm doing at the time it stops me in my tracks. Its hard to get in to see the doctors. But i have set an appointment but till then i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows what it is. Thanks for taking the time to read this and help me out. Much appreciated.

thanks for getting back to me. It is usually in the back of my head. I don't usually have a runny nose, not on a regular basis. It doesn't last long just some sharp pain in the back of my head and then disappears. I do have to wear glasses but i just wear my contacts.

1.  You might need glasses, as any change in vision strains your eyes and can cause sharp headaches.
2.  You may have sinus issues.  If you constantly have a runny nose, post-nasal drip (sinus drainage down the back of your throat) or a stuffy head, these are all culprits.  For me, if I get stressed and have a stuffy head I can get a migraine.  No fun at all.

Wondering "where" the pains are.  Behind your eyes? (sinuses) Close to your ears?  Between eyes?  Where at?
