MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
There is a possibility that the bug is still there in the gut and causing mild symptoms. Apart from banana, you should increase fluids like soups, ORS, lemonade etc and take probiotics.
If you do not feel well in a day or two, please consult your doctor. Take care!

I don't know if this has already been mentioned but try to drink a bottle of gatoraid every day. In the dehydration from your diahrea, your probably losing water and drinking water to replenish your fluids is good, but it does not replace the electrolites that your body also needs. Gateraid will do this. Sometimes dehydration can be half of what makes you feel bad in these situations.

You will feel weak for a while, perhaps a few weeks. It will  depend on the severity and the condition your  health was in before the poisoning occurred and if you are still taking antibiotics.

It is extremely important to know that this kind of illness is very traumatic to your body and to your health now and in the future. The reason is because the lining of your whole digestive system including the lower bowels have been attacked. The worst damage can occur in the lower bowels. The antibiotics kill the invader but also kill off the natural bacteria in your body. What I have typed below is to help your body to recover from both.

You will need plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. For the next few days or week:

DO NOT CONSUME : milk or milk products.
                                       alcohol
fatty or spicey or sugary foods
raw foods, cooked cabbage or any kind of food that causes gas eg.
                                       beans
avoid meat, nuts, caffeine, wheat products (because of the glutin)
                                       fruits
                                       vinegar
                                       * Keeping your diet low on certain foods lowers the amount of work
your body has to do while it is trying to heal itself and especially your
                                          bowels.

Do:        drink boiled filtered water....1 tsp. salt to 1 quart water, drink 12 glasses or more a day

Buy Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus bugaricus in powder form and add to
a glass of cooled boiled water. You can purchase them at a good health store, ask  for
the best product.  This will help to build up the natural flora in your guts that has
been destroyed  by the bacteria and antibiotics. Even if you are still taking antibiotics  please take them,   they will not interfere with the antibiotics and are safe to take for several weeks. Store them in the refrigerator.

Bananas are very good but you could also take a ' potassium' supplement as well for a
               short time.

Take 2 marshmallow capsules 3 times a day, you can buy it  at a natural healthfood
store. It will help the lining of your bowels to heal and sooth  the whole digestive
track. I would suggest taking them for several months.

For the next week you can have:

veg. broths, applesauce (unsweetened), rice, homemade potato soup.  Chew or hold
these items in your mouth for a few moments before swallowing, this will encourage
the digestive enzymes in your mouth to begin the digesting process as the food enters
the stomach. This is important for your body right now as your body's natural enzymes
have been depleted or put out of whack.

Please try to be patient, this is a natural way I am suggesting to you and it will work to help you heal and feel better. You may also consider taking a good multivitamin with high amounts of Vit. B complex and Vit C in ester form later on to further help you to heal.

Busy life styles can impede healing, take it easy for awhile. When you feel strong enough start going for walks, the exercise and fresh air will be good for you. Unwind and de-stress is my motto for healing.
