Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
What your father in law has could be Crohn’s disease.  Crohn’s disease is a difficult entity to diagnose. Along with gut symptoms skin disorders and arthritis too are commonly seen with Crohn’s. An upper GI series using barium dye is done to see the condition of small intestines. The degree of involvement of the large and small intestine may vary from person to person.  A biopsy is the most confirmatory. An elevated ESR does confirm inflammation in the body. Low protein, minerals and iron in blood are the other findings in Crohn’s which may or may not be present. A recent advancement in Crohn’s diagnosis is video capsule endoscopy. Please discuss this with a gastroenterologist.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Diastolic is the bottom number on your blood pressure and reflects the pressure when your heart is at rest.  If it is high, this means your heart is not fully relaxing when it is supposed to be at rest (see PM about diagnosing).  If you have not had an echocardiogram within the last year, you might get another one.  It looked like from your posts that you both lost and gained a significant amount of weight, which stresses a person's heart.

I also read in a post that you had a kidney stone and a high cortisol reading but were told this meant nothing?  I'd get a new doctor, if that's the case!  While I believe cortisol can rise with great stress, it could be a sign of something else going on.  I noticed you didn't say whether you had been tested for Cushings or not.  Cortisol is part of the testing for this disease, along with aldosterone.  It can be caused by a problem with the adrenal glands or secondarily by a pituitary issue (like a tumor, which they say one in five people have).   And I believe a kidney stone could affect the function of that kidney & should be watched at least.

I saw in a post of yours that you were told you have slight anemia- what numbers did they base that on?  If it is iron deficiency anemia, this can cause a lot of symptoms, such as palpitations & tachycardia, difficulty in concentration, dizziness and lightheadedness, shortness of breath from the tachy and more.

I'd definitely get a lipid panel then, since they haven't checked in awhile and it was a little high the last time.  My grandma had peripheral vascular disease.  This is a plaque clogging problem in the lower extremities that she experienced.  It can be inherited and has shown up as early as teenage years I've heard.   What happens is the plaque builds up in the blood vessels until they are blocked, then no blood can get past the vessel, so the vessel below it dies.  See PM for more info on symptoms on this, including change in the color of extremities.

Another thing that can cause blood pooling in your legs is a condition I have called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, a form of dysautonomia (see dysautonomia forum).  It involves orthostatic intolerance (standing up).

I have had a complete hysterectomy I have tested for thyroid many times, but No they havent really tested my blood sugar, that i know of. I had a echocardiogram would that show congestive and diastolic failure? A few stress tests as well., not sure what the diastolic is. I have had kidney function tests. No they havent done any color doppler testing of my lower extremity blood vessesls..that's interesting. No for some reason they havent tested my cholesterol levels for a long time. I think a few years ago they were just a little high.

I really don't know a ton here.  I remember a couple of reasons why the stomach can be hard- constipation and abdominal ascites, where fluid gathers in the peritoneal cavity.  A person can have peritonitis.

I know endometriosis can cause a lot of abdominal pain, where endometrial implants itself outside the inner part of the uterus where lining is supposed to go.  It then grows and sluffs off with a woman's hormonal changes, just like the lining on the inside of your uterus.  It can cause menorrhagia or pain with your periods and can cause adhesions to start forming, I believe as well.  It can get on your bowels potentially and start growing into them & cause problems there as well.

Are you getting tested for Cushing's which can cause weight gain, and stretch marks?  Have you had regular monitoring of your blood sugar and thyroid function?

Also, you mention horrible blood circulation- have they recently checked to make sure you are not in CHF or DHF (congestive or diastolic heart failure)?  And, have they checked your kidney function to see if they are working properly?  Have they done any color doppler testing of your lower extremity blood vessels?  And what do your cholesterol numbers look like?

An abdominal aortic aneurysm could be revealed potentially by an abdominal ultrasound from what I just saw online.  I'm not sure a clot would remain stationary for that long- a doctor might know.

This all sound to familiar although I am not wastin away. My stomach is hard and hot to touch it hurts so badly all the time i cannot even bend worse than when i was pregnant before. This is happening for 2 yrs and i have horrible blood circulation. My question is can you really have blood clots for long periods of times? And i have had an echocardiogram in which they looked at my abdominal  would they have seen and aortic aneurysm?

First off- I'm not a doctor, just a disabled person with nurse's training completed nearly 20 years ago.  Generally, I would think of a severe infection.  Also, a blood clot can make something hotter and is painful.  Have they checked for an abdominal aortic aneurysm?  What about a twisted bowel?  I had a grandpa who had severe abdominal pain from that.  Getting him to the right kind of cancer hospital if any blood cancer markers would point in the direction of cancer would be a suggestion.  I was looking at a magazine article about the importance of getting to the right hospital for the most knowledgeable in the field for a particular kind of cancer.  If they did any scanning, what kind did they do?
