unknown cause for rash

I have been getting a rash off and on since winter came. The rash lasts a few minutes but it is extremely itch and prickly. When i go out in the cold and return into a room that is warm/well heated my skin breaks out in a rash. The dermatologist said it might be some type of allergy. He has prescribed numerous medications and i am still getting the rash. I'm starting to worry it might be a symptom for something serious. I have been looking online for answers and have seen posts suggesting cancer all the way to hiv. Any suggestions? Am i over reacting?

Went to get an allergy test this week. Doctor said i wasn't allergic to anything but likely for me during my appointment my skin started to breakout when i entered the room ( which was hot) and he diagnosed it as cold urticaria. I never had this last winter this is the first time in my life this is occurring so is his diagnose wrong?

It would be worthwhile to ask your dermatologist if you could be allergic to any material in winter clothing. For example some people are allergic to rayon.
This type of allergy can cause contact dermatitis. They could do an allergy test to see if that could be a potential cause. Then you could substitute jackets and sweaters with other material.
