vitamin d deficency

i recently went in for a routine physical and my doctor told me that the only thing he noticed was a vitamin d deficiency.

i work in the middle east and try to stay indoors as much as possible due to the heat and skin cancer runs in my family.

with that said, people have told me that kidney and liver failure are causes for vitamin d deficiencies. this concerns me greatly.

would bloodwork from a standard physical have detected any possible kidney / liver issues? I am 31 year old male.

thanks.

Also, I have been taking D3 supplements since diagnosis (approx 3 weeks ago).

My doc wants to perform follow-up tests after being on supplements for 3-6 months.

If I have no symptoms? What symptoms would those be?

not necessarily, unless they ran a liver panel. most people have vitamin d deficiencies. if you have no symptoms, take vitamin d supplements

Hepatic and a Renal Panel are tests for liver and kidneys.  Did you have these done?  If so, and you were having kidney or liver failure, it should have shown up on your blood work.  If you are concerned about the Vitamin D deficiency, you should ask  your doctor about taking Vitamin D 3 supplements.
