Severe pain on left side of my face

I Started with a numb upper left lip 10 days ago.  Since then the feeling has spread across the left side of my face and is now a tingly, pins and needles like pain (but really painful). I now have pain in my forehead, especially my temple, under my eye socket, down my cheekbone, in my upper gum, in my teeth and my chin but all only on the left side of my face. I can't eat anything using the left side of my mouth now. I keep getting sharp, shooting pains across my head that make my body shudder. For the past two days I have developed tingling in the hands, this is not constant but comes on in a morning then disappears.  The pain, especially through the night, in my face is unbearable. I have seen two doctors and both seem unsure of what it is.  I am being referred to a neurologist but won't receive the referral until Friday, in the meantime I'm in agony with just some codene to help ease the pain and no clue what these symptoms may be a result of?
