lymph nodes

hi im 26 and have four very small lymph nodes above my left collar bone smaller than peas should i be worried

thank you no never had them checked i will go the doctors and ask him to check thanks

Hey caz 34 have you ever had your thyroid checked next time you go see your doc get that checked k. if you have a thyroid prob that can make your lymph nodes swell up.

hi is there anyway the could be enlarged permently? ive had them since march 09 and the have only slightly got bigger, i had a sore throte and was sick a few months ago they was a bit bigger fully mobile then they shrunk to what they are now, im absolutely petrified Ive got cancer after what Ive been reading about lymph nodes above the collar bone, im normally well apart from feeling a bit tired not sure that's down to stress, i have astma and Ive also got gum disease Ive heard this can cause lymph nodes to swell, put i have lots of pet allergies, thanks

hi thank you both for your quick answers, i also forgot to mention ive had them for over a year now, i went the doctors last march got blood tests liver cbc everything was fine im very worried but as ive mentioned earlier there really small no were near the size of 1cm thanks

Hey, you really need to see a doc about your lymph nodes maby you came down with a viral infection that can be treated

Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, supraclavicular (above the collar bone) lymphadenopathy is worrisome. Especially the ones larger than 1cm in diameter should be investigated thoroughly for cancers and granulomatous diseases. The left supraclavicular lymph nodes drain the abdomen. The supraclavicular lymph nodes also receive lymphatic drainage from the breasts. Hence the malignancies of these regions are possible. Tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, histoplasmosis, cat scratch disease and cryptococcosis are the other possibilities. Please get this investigated. It may not be anything but one needs to be sure.
