night sweats accompanied with shivers

27 yr old male. i am suffering from night sweats 2+ times per night about every hour to hour and a half.i am having intense dreams prior to awakening. when i awake my clothes and hair are soaked i have goose bumps and i am extremely cold and have to change clothes each time i wake up also my mouth feels dry. this has been going on since november 2010 and has progressively gotten worse . changes that i have noticed during the day is that i am constantly cold with chills unless its above 75-80 degrees. i sweat from my armpits just sitting no activity and temperatures have no effect but that has gone on since i was 14 or so, and "prescription strength" otc anti-perspirant (mitchum) do little to help . the only change to my habits is that i have stopped smoking cannabis but if i do smoke prior to sleeping i do not have this problem same with alcohol, i know this is not the cause or a cure but may be helpful to you in helping me. i do not have any cancers or leukemia that i know off or any other diseases and i am not on any medications and have no visible infections or injuries.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Very low blood pressure and low blood sugar should be considered as the cause and you need to get this checked at night.
Other causes include AIDS, cancer, infections in the body and side effect of certain drugs. It can also be due to severe acidity with H pylori infection and gastric reflux, carcinoid syndromes, hyperthyroidism, and sleep disorders. At times cause cannot be found out.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!
