Can wood show up in an xray?

Let me be more specific.  I mean a wood chip...a small piece of wood.  I'm wondering because a friend of mine has a small wood chip or splinter stuck in his arm and he showed me the xray and you can definately see a thin object.  I was just surpirsed that a splinter of wood would show up.

Any foreign body will show up. My husband is a builder and we have see wood in xrays more than once!
