Is his legs gonna have to be chopped off?

Ok,  
My dad has got red legs and are swollen and he has diabetes and he checks his blood suger now and again and it seems to be ok, but recently my dog keeps sniffing his legs where the red is and has never done that, please help my dad is worried because he knows dogs can sence wen somthin is wrong and he knows a guy who had to have his legs chopped off and he had diabetes, could some1 tell me how to stop the redness or whats causing it,

he probably has cellulitis and needs to be treated with antibiotics

The redness and swelling is from poor circulation. The doc would have a better handle on whether or not his legs will get cut off. This would be a last resort--they would try to increase the circulation to that area first. It is important that your father is seen by his doc on a regular basis and that he addresses the swelling and redness. This can also be helped by medication and if the problems are kept in check, he would not have to lose a limb.
