Get evaluated by a urogynecologist, they can do bladder testing in the office to determine if your leakage can be cured by a sling, which can be performed at the time of your surgery.

This sounds like stress urinary incontinence. It is quite common in wome, and the problem worsens with increasing age. Risk factors include childbirth, obesity, and increasing age. THe good news is that it is curable. You do not have to live with it. Sometimes (about 25%) it can be cured with well coached Kegels. Pesssaries cure this about 30% of the time. THe most optimal cure is usually surgical, and the current gold standard sure is the suburethral sling "sling". In experienced hands, the proceedure takes about 45 minutes, and the cure rate is about 90%. THere is a small risk of temporary urinary retention , and also new onset urinary urgency/frequency. Both usually resolve by about 12 weeks after surgery. You will need bladder testing (called urodynamics) prior to any surgery. If you can, please locate a urogynecologist or Urologist with advanced training in female urology, either one of these can help you diagnose this, and do your surgery if you are so inclined. Let me know if I can help further.

I for got to mention that I will be haveing surgury in march to have my ovaries and tubes removed due to ovarian cyst and hydrosalphinx of the fallopin tubes.  would they be able to do anything for my urinary incontinence then?   the surgeon is a specilist in female laposcopic surgery but I will also to have a general surgeon present due to the fact I have had gallballder surgery, bowel resection, c-section, hysterectomy and finally a bowel obstruction due to adhesions.  thanks for any info you can give me.
