Question for a urologist or any doctor and public

Hello doctors and public I have a question ok so i was recently diagnosed with prostatitis after allllll these dreadful nights thinking i may have had some type of STD because of a burning sensation of urinating and a tender right testicle, i finally went to a urologist scdeuled an appointment and it turns out after that very uncomfortable latex glove digital test, my Uro said i have had prostatitis which explains the urinating ,the tender testicle, and the white pus in my urine. I was given an ultra sound as well to check for cancers or tumors and even cysts and everything came out negative(Thank Christ). Now iam on Amox and they also gave some hydrocodone for pain killers whenever my testicle bothers. I have never had a problem with fertility as a matter of fact i recently had an abortion a litte less then a year ago about 11 months ago. Now my question to you guys is can i still have kids now? or do i have to wait for the prostatitis to cure or get better. My uro said this wouldn t effect my fertility but i wanna hear second opinions as well and if i have to wait till its gone  THANKS A BUNCH!@!

Hi, I have had several bouts of prostatitis, and even have been hospitalized when an infections spread to my testicles resulting in epididymitis or orchitis.

It is important to get medical treatment as soon as possible. If the infections are not treated it could result in damage to the testicles.

Eventhough I had many infections due to a seperate urological probem, I still was able to father our youngest daughter. I had undergone surgery to my bladder and was told by the urologist who did the surgery that I most likely would not be able to be able to have any nore children. I had several more bouts after the surgery but was surprised that my wife told me that she was pregnant about 6 months after my surgery.

As long as your prostatitis is treated early, it should not have any impact on your fertility. If you notice pain in your testicles you must get this checked out as soon as possible. In the case of an infection, you could get very sick in a short period of time.
I had times where I had gone into work feeling fine only to hospitalized 2 to 4 hours later.

Prostatitis can be very difficult to get rid off, also the case with epididymitis or orchitis. make sure that you finish the course of antibiotics. Then go back to your doctor or urologist to have your blood and urine tested to make sure that the infections have cleared. With prostatitis you don't allways have an infections with it. It can also be that the prostate in just inflamed.

Avoid cafeine and spicy foods, they can have an impact on prostatitis in regards to discomfort. Prostatitis can be the result of sexual activity but this is not allways the case.

Good Luck,

Ron

I am passing blood through my penis. I would like to know if this is a serious problem. Likewise, what could be the possible problem/s.

Although I'm certainly no doctor, it sounds like you're doing good!

I think I'd just look for any signs that the infection hasn't totally cleared. Your urologist or regular doctor should be able to answer that for you.

Hopefully, the antibiotics you've taken have done the job. Personally, I hate getting shots more than I dislike a prostate exam (DRE), but your urologist probably wanted to make sure that infection would go away.

I've never heard of a prostate infection, like the one you mentioned, harming a guy's fertility.
