Oil Slick on Urine Left to Stand

Hello!
Thanks to any and all helpful answers.

I'm concerned because lately (past 2-3 weeks, maybe a month) I have noticed what looks to be an oily film on my urine in the toilet in the morning after urinating in the middle of the night. I've done a little looking around online and what I've seen seems to pin this on a substance called "chyle," but none of the advice posted mentions whether or not this is cause for concern or should be taken to a physician.

Aside from the oily film, I'm not experiencing any symptoms, and in fact feel great (I am generally fit and well hydrated). If it's relevant, my diet is based on whole foods, prepared at home, and is typically high fat/protein and low carbohydrate (only from vegetable/fruit sources of which i eat a lot).

Thanks again!

This is amazing.  I have similar - petrol in urine or gasoline in urine appearance and the doctors are stumped.  I cannot find much information but im sure if you get on a thread it will start unravelling.  I had been going some time questioning the building owner saying that I suspected the water to be tainted (as it was coming from mains and into a tank).

I too am seeing "chyle" as a lead but unbelievably theres NOTHING! online about this condition.  How long, what it leads to, risks etc etc absolutely nothing.

Thanks for the reply. Could you please provide some information on whether this possible chyle leak is something to seek treatment for, or if it will resolve on its own? Also, any information on possible causes of a chyle leak and associated symptoms? Thanks very much.

Hello,
The most common cause of oily urine is ketones in urine. These appear in individuals with uncontrolled diabetes and also during periods of starvation or a stringent dietary regimen. The other possibility is of Chyle that is produced by your lymph nodes is the reason for the urine's oily residue. This is more noticeable if you left the urine stand for a period of time.

Urine analysis may be done to help with the diagnosis.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take c
