Hi,
Smokers have a tendency to develop peripheral neuropathy - a condition where there is progressive loss of sensation starting from the peripheries.
Though it commonly appears in hands and feet it has been known to cause sexual dysfunction also.
Such issues are better addressed at the earliest so that they can be fixed before they progress.
An appointment with a neurologist would be in order, in view of your symptoms, since you do not have any erectile dysfunction as such.
As it could be smoking-related, cutting down on the nicotine would help. If you find yourself unable to cut down, do increase your intake of vitamins B-complex and C as these help with the neurological issues and help prevent cancer.

Hello Dr,
Thank you so much for your response.Knowing that you guys are doing this voluntarily I was wondering if I would receive a reply.
To answer your questions,
Well, No I am not circumcised.
The foreskin movement over the glans in perfect.
I have had no such trauma when this started.
I don't workout cycle or ride a bicycle.
Have no feeling of tingling in hands and feet or numbness in them neither do I have any other symptoms.
Do you think this could be a smoking related problem?.
How serious could this be?
Do you suggest a wait and watch or an immediate medical help for the after sex numbness around the penis.

Hi there,
Are you circumcised?
If not, does the foreskin move normally over the glans or is the movement restricted?
Have you had any sort of trauma to your back around the time these symptoms started?
Do you ride a bicycle or work out on a cycle at the gym such that the seat puts pressure on the groin?
Even though you have no family history of diabetes, it would be a good idea to have yourself tested for the same.
You could also have a condition called peripheral neuropathy (since you mentiones that you are a heavy smoker) which is characterized by numbness of the hands and feet and peripheral areas and sometimes affects sexual function. Do you have any feeling of tingling in your hands and feet or numbness?
A neurologist can help you in the event of your having a nerve disorder.
There are some measures you can take to help combat the symptoms:
Avoid stress, nicotine, and caffeine.
Start taking supplements of vitamin B-complex (Peripheral neuropathy occurs due to their deficiency sometimes) and folic acid.
Avoid strenous activities that can injure or compress nerves to the groin.
Do keep us posted on your progress and feel free to contact us with your doubts.

Hi,
I posted this question several times but received no reply.Could someone please help in this regard.
I am 27 year old. I feel a numbness in penis since I started having regular sex ( For few months now ). This normally happens after the skin on the penis has had a lot of up and down motion during sex. The numbness just feels on the entire area as if a local anaesthetia has been given and lasts for a few minutes.
There are no problems with erection, ejaculation or urination.
Neither me nor my family descent has been diabetic or has any history of such trauma. All I can add is my late mother had both kidney failures and spent all her life in hospital.
Do you think I should wait and watch or take it seriously? Also I am a heavy smoker.
Kindly help. Thanks.
