Phimosis

I have recently become aware of the problem Phimosis (Tight Foreskin over the Head of the penis), I am 15 years old, and It has only actually started to concern me now, I never realized that there were any problems with my penis until I began to read up on this particular topic.
I would really appreciate anybody to talk to about this problem, I do not want to resort to Circumcision, stretching my foreskin is painful as it is too tight. However, it is too embarrassing for me to bring up to my parents.

I would appreciate any medical answers or help to this problem...
Thanks

You'll need to go to a physician and get a prescription. There is no negative to this in my mind. You have a problem for which you need help, and your family physician or urologist can provide this. If it were pneumonia, you'd be seeking care in the same way.
There is no shame to this.

First, let me stress the importance of retracting your foreskin on a daily basis and with soap and water washing  your penis. The incidence of cancer of the head of the penis is related to penile hygiene. There is also the risk of infections beneath the foreskin. Some men with phimosis cease being sexually active because of discomfort from their foreskin.
With that in mind, there are two ways to deal with phimosis: surgery and medicine. Applying the cortisone, betamethasone 0.05% cream or ointment,  has a  fairly high  success rate according to the literature.   The foreskin can be removed with  simple operation and  care of your  penis will be much easier for the rest of your life..
Good luck!

Hi,

As much as I apreciate the opinion of the doctors here, I don't apreciate the fact that they seem to think that circumsion is required in most cases.

There needs to be more information about the human body in schools an homes.

Most cases of a tight foreskin can be solved without circumcision.

There are several ways of stretching the foreskin. It is important that you aproach this gentily as exessive stretching can result into cuts in the foreskin. This would result into scar tissue which will make things worse then when you started.

At the age of 15 you most likely need the conscent of your parents to purchase most creams or products for the purpose of stretching the foreskin.

You can take a look at www.glansie.com It will give you an idea of what can be done. You can also use your fingers to stretch the foreskin as well.

As for talking with your parents about this, I would feel bad if my 17 year old son was not up to date about the anatomy of his penis. There is nothing to be embarrased about, if anything your parents share some blame in not teaching you the working of your penis as well as the complete body.

Do not resort to cirumcision until you are sure that it is the only way to solve your problem. Be careful in cleaning under the foreskin as soaps can irritate the foreskin. All you need is water to clean your penis.

God bless,

Ron

I would suggest that when you recomend "SOAP and water when cleaning under the foreskin that you stress VERY MILD SOAP, or even generous amounts of clean water.   Harsh soaps causes more problems by disrupting natural counts of bacteria and fungus just as in a woman and irratateing the very sentative skin.   Harsh soaps causes phimoses instead of prevents it.
