Reaccuring bladder/irritation matters

I'm a 50 year old female...Off and on for the past two years I've had a situation where I feel pressure in my bladder, and irriation in varying degrees in my urethra area...I had a cystoscopy August 2007 which was normal...I get frequent UTI's...I'm just now finishing up my Cipro from yet another UTI ...While I'm guessing my UTI is gone, the pressure on the bladder remains, along with the irritatino in my urethra area...I feel the need to urinate often....I've taken pyridium all week...I've heard I should only take that for two days but today is my 7th and last day...I'm healthy, husband of 30 years, etc...I thought it was related to my hormone medication before so I've consistently taken it...I thought it was the cure, but the symptoms are back again...too much acid in my orange juice?  Please help...

Hi,

The symptoms involve irritation and a sensation of bladder pressure , is this correct?

No pain or increase in urinary frequency?

No straining with urination?

I suggest that since the last time this occurred was last year, a urinalysis for your current symptoms may be requested just to rule out an infection. If a urine culture may be done then this will be able to guide treatment. A 24 hour urine collection will help us look into other elements like protein in the urine.

This will be an initial test for your current condition. Discuss this with your physician. An infection is the more common cause for irritative urinary symptoms. This may need to be ruled out first before other differentials will be considered.

Aniother thing I've tried...I try not to wear tight jeans, and I even wear a kotex pad to not have anything pushing into that area...I wonder if I'm sitting too much...I'm really reaching now...

I first noticed it October 2006...I thought it went away with a sitz bath...Thanksgiving the same year it came back...Seems a prometrium cream (hormone) fixed it...April 2007 it was back and stayed for several months until a cystoscopy ruled the urethra and bladder normal...No problems again until this past week...

I'm thinking hard...Seems the UTI came first, and once gone, the symptoms remained...Sometimes it's triggered by a doctor visit when they check me in that area....Sometimes are intercourse with my husband...no surgery...seems very warm in the area too

Pyridium seems to give some relief...Not complete...An antiinflammatory gives some relief, not complete...I'm confused...I've been faithful with my hormone medications in hopes I don't get too dry down there...What do you think, or suggest?

Hi,

This has been present for the last two years?

How would you describe the events surrounding its onset? Were there any activity , a surgery or medications that could have triggered it two years ago?

What relieves the symptoms?
