bladder

I would like to know how much urine a normal bladder can hold as compared to a distended bladder
and if the amount of urine passed, over the course of three or four voidings per day is from 16oz to 24ozs, would that still be considered acute urinary retention?

Looks like I'm not getting the urge to void until at least 16oz.
I am taking Lasix-water pills and when I take a double dose of 40mg
I have voided as much as 24-28oz.
therefore I still do not see the need for TURP as I do not have any pain or restriction in flow.
I will have another consultation with my Urologist in a few weeks.

Thanks for your feedback!

My urologist advised me that ordinary amounts should be between 350 ml (12 oz) to no more than 450 ml (15 oz);  More than this will cause thickness of the bladder walls.  Normally, at 350 ml you get the urge to "go".  At 450 ml, it gets painful to hold any longer.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
