urology

i have had symptoms similar to cystits for four months, at beginningultrasound showed a huge ovarian cyst and thatwas removed with ovary - no cancer, now l have had for two months, stinging sensation in bladder/urethtra passing a lot of urine feeling yuk and generally out of sorts.   consultant is referring me urologist, also had kidney ultrasound after ovary removal and all was okay, what could this be as it is driving me crazy, also have pain in upper legs above knees and sweats - scared in case it is a cancer - any help would be great

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Cystitis manifests with increased frequency, urgency and painful urination. This could be due to infection or allergy to certain foods like caffeine, tea and personal care products.
Confirmation of the cause for cystitis can be done by a cystoscopy. I would suggest that you visit a urologist and get a urine analysis with culture and cystoscopy done to confirm the cause.
Best.
