yeast infection in 2 yr old

I have a 2 yr old daughter who was showing signs of a UTI. I took her to the dr but with the urine test they found leukocytes but no nitrates. She looked kind of concerned. She said that my daughter had a yeast infection because of the bubble baths. Her concerned look is what is scaring me. What else could it be? Can a urine test show leukocytes when it is a yeast infection?

Hello,
Leukocytosis is there when there is any infection in the body. From the symptoms yeast infection is a possibility as it is very common in young female children. Wipe her bottom from vagina to anus and not in the reverse order and make her wear cotton nappies. Also give her plenty of fluids. If the symptoms persist then oral antimicrobials may be needed for which I suggest you to consult a pediatrician.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Your daughter could have a yeast infection if she was on antibiotics prior to the infection.

My wife and I both have had yeast infections after having been on antibiotics.

Yeast can be hard to get rid off. I'm not sure if over the counter creams are safe for that age group.

All the best.
