Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms Question--Please Help!!

About 6 weeks ago I (37 year old male) was told I was vitamin d deficient (19) and that I have low testosterone (tested twice--277 and 315--Doc thinks it should be in the mid 500's).  Doc gave 50,000UI D2 for 12 weeks.  I switched to D3 (8,000 a day) about 1 week ago (some symptoms seemed to have faded a little with D2 I have many symptoms that match what others on here have cited:

muscle twitching (all over--annoying and can be very frequent at times)
burning/tingling in one foot (especially after walking around or exercise)
muscle aches (mostly in same leg as burning sensation)
fatigue/weakness
insomnia--fall asleep fine but wake up at 3:00/4:00 and can't go back to sleep.
shortness of breath.  This occurs right as I am dozing off trying to go back to asleep in the early morning.  It seems like my muscles relax too much and the shortness occurs (this one scares me).  Also have a lump in the throat sensation from time to time.
tingling/numb tongue and lip when waking up from sleeping (2 or 3 times maybe).

The twitching has happened since August and the others in the last 6 weeks or so.  Had an MRI of brain and neck to test for MS which was clean.  I also had an EMG and NCV which were both normal.  My biggest fear is ALS.  The shortness of breath/trouble breathing has me terrified.

Anyone with vitamin d deficiency had breathing problems while sleeping?  Any similar symptoms?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

As humans we are awarded a fabulous but complex tool, our bodies & the associated brain. Unfortunately the latter thinks it can dictate the terms to the former. From the notes above it seems obvious that stress is a factor, maybe the main factor in causing the symptoms described. So the brain says go get the quick fix, that won't require me to change my behavior. Go to the doc, get the drugs, 30 minutes ...solved. Go back to causative behavior.

My advice, start to listen to what your tests & your body are saying. Low testosterone, reduce stress, wear loose boxers or go commando, don't sit so much, get exercise. meditate, do yoga & stretching, spend time in hammock...with others.
Low Vit. D, go for a hike, get 15 min of sun in the am, both sides, use less SUN block, duh. Try once in a while to limit the influence of the grey matter & pay attention to what's being said below your neck. We stifle our conversations with our bodies constantly, to survive & prosper in the complex world we created. Sometimes you gotta step back & say I've done enough, try doing it every day.           .............lee

Take Vit D on regular bases.
You can go for Human Growth Hormone test stimulation like Glucagon Stimulation and Insuline Tolerance test and also detailed sleep study.
Iron panel tests with detailed hemoglobulin , Immuno deficiency tests can give some clue. At first stage you can go Igf1. for lump in throat - ultra sound with CT of  throat ,watch lump movement on priority. Biopsy of lump may be done

Thank you for taking time to respond.  A Neurologist did the MRI and nerve tests.  Family doc did blood tests.  I hope you start feeling better.  Health issues suck.  Just want my life back.  Thanks again.

I've been dealing with Vitamin D deficiency for about a year (28/F). D3 is definitely better than D2 (more easily absorbed - plus it's the type you get from the sun). I experience muscle twitching (especially in my face). I'm tired all the time, whether I get 2 hours of sleep or 10. Insomnia is also a major problem for me, which is why I sometimes only get 2 hours of sleep. I took 25,000 IU of D3 for about a month, decreasing by 5,000 IU a month. I've been taking 5,000 IU for about 7 months. My most recent Vitamin D test came back 50.1 (I started at 17 a year ago, my highest was 76). I experience all the other symptoms that you listed but they are attributed to Chiari Malformation. Did you see a Family Practice doctor for the tests or a specialist (specifically a Neurologist)? I would give the Vitamin D a few more weeks and see where your symptoms are (better or worse) and go from there.
